Iran Warns of Prolonged Conflict if War with US Resumes

by admin477351

Iran has issued a stark warning regarding the potential for an extended conflict with the United States, should tensions escalate into war. Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia suggested that any future military engagement could surpass the duration of previous conflicts, emphasizing that Tehran would control its response to any aggression from Washington.

Iran’s Defence Minister Mehrdad Akhlaghi echoed this sentiment, stating that any attack on Iran would prompt a decisive and proportionate response. He underscored Iran’s stance that it would not allow external forces to dictate the scale, timing, or consequences of its defensive actions.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps added that a potential conflict with the United States would not be geographically confined, implying that its effects could spread across a broader region. This assertion highlights the broader implications of rising tensions between the two nations.

Amidst these warnings, diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation continue. Iranian negotiators have been engaged in discussions with Qatari mediators in Doha for three consecutive days, aiming to reach a resolution to the ongoing US-Israeli conflict involving Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the continuation of these talks, indicating Tehran’s readiness to pursue both diplomatic and defensive pathways.

Negotiations reportedly include a proposed two-day initiative, although no definitive agreement has been achieved yet. Concerns linger about the possibility of renewed hostilities following the US midterm elections on November 3. US President Donald Trump has stated that no new attacks on Iran will occur before the elections, while also suggesting that negotiations with Tehran have been fruitful. Nonetheless, he has not ruled out military action in the future.
