The long-awaited live-action Scooby-Doo! series is getting closer to production, with a new filming timeline announced. The Netflix series will feature a young cast for the iconic roles of Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma. Produced by Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio, the show will have Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg as showrunners.

The storyline is set during the gang’s last summer at camp, where they encounter a lonely Great Dane puppy. The dog becomes the sole witness to a mysterious supernatural murder, and the group finds themselves drawn into a dangerous investigation that could expose their deepest secrets. The series is described as a modern reimagining that combines mystery, friendship, and supernatural suspense.

The show is planned for eight one-hour episodes. Its current working title is Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, though this may change. The filming, which was initially rumored to start in the fall of 2025, has been officially pushed back. Production is now scheduled to begin in early 2026.

This new series is designed to be a fresh take on the classic cartoon, blending nostalgic elements with a contemporary plot. The focus on the characters’ origins and a more supernatural-tinged mystery is expected to appeal to a broad audience. Fans are eagerly awaiting casting announcements for the young actors and the Great Dane that will play Scooby.
