US President Donald Trump is anticipated to press Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for a ceasefire agreement concerning energy infrastructure during their upcoming meeting in New York. The discussions are set to occur on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly as Ukraine ramps up its assaults on Russian energy facilities.
Over the weekend, Ukrainian forces launched a significant attack on Russia’s Moscow region, reportedly targeting a major oil refinery, resulting in three fatalities. Trump has expressed concern that these attacks on Russian refineries are exacerbating global energy shortages and has repeatedly called for an end to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, citing its impact on worldwide energy supply chains.
Zelenskyy acknowledged that negotiations are ongoing, emphasizing that discussions are underway to de-escalate tensions.
