by admin477351

In a recent statement, former US President Donald Trump urged Libya to cease functioning as a transit route for illegal migration across the Mediterranean, emphasizing the need for enhanced border controls and increased cooperation between the United States and Libya. Trump’s remarks, shared on Truth Social, highlighted the importance of addressing security challenges and illegal migration.

Trump praised the Libyan people for their resilience and underscored the longstanding partnership between the US and Libya, particularly in combating terrorism and cooperating against the Islamic State (ISIS). He described the Libyan people as “proud, resilient, hospitable, and deserving of peace and prosperity,” urging continued collaboration to tackle regional security issues.

The former president also reaffirmed Washington’s support for Libya’s ongoing political transition. He highlighted efforts to unify state institutions, strengthen governance, and conduct long-delayed national elections. Libya has faced extended political divisions and internal conflict since the overthrow of former leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Trump called on Libyan political factions to resolve their differences and resist foreign interference in the country’s affairs, asserting that the Libyan people deserve sovereignty, stability, and a prosperous future. His comments underscore the US focus on migration management, counterterrorism cooperation, and political stability in the North African nation.
