Rubio Outlines Two-Track Gaza Deal: Hostage Release and Post-War Plan

by admin477351

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has outlined a two-track deal to end the Gaza war, involving an immediate hostage release and a parallel agreement on a post-war plan. He confirmed the comprehensive framework is “90 per cent” complete, with Hamas having agreed in principle to both tracks.

The first track focuses on the urgent priority of freeing all Israeli hostages. In exchange, Israel will pull its military forces back to the “yellow line,” its position as of mid-August. This component is in the final stages of logistical planning.

The second track addresses the future, with Rubio revealing that Hamas has consented “in principle” to “enter into this idea about what’s going to happen afterwards.” This political discussion is key to creating a sustainable peace.

The deal is a signature initiative of President Donald Trump, who has praised it as a “great deal for Israel” and secured Benjamin Netanyahu’s backing. He has also issued a severe threat to Hamas, warning of “complete obliteration” if the group refuses to cede control.

By pursuing both immediate and long-term goals simultaneously, the US-led effort aims to not only stop the current fighting but also to prevent its recurrence. The success of the final logistical talks will determine if this ambitious, two-track approach succeeds.
